September Sapphire

September Sapphire

Blue sapphire is the classic birthstone for September as well as the gemstone to celebrate the 5th and 45th wedding anniversaries. Sapphires come in a robust range of colors, but most envision a deeply intense, velvety blue. Blue and fancy sapphires come from a variety of exotic sources such as Madagascar, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and Australia.

The gemstone traditionally symbolizes nobility, truth, sincerity, and faithfulness. It has decorated the robes of royalty and clergy members for centuries. The Stuart sapphire is one of the most famous sapphires as it sits gloriously in the Imperial State Crown of Britain and the Queen's ancestors acquired the 104 carat cabochon-cut stone in the 14th century.
