Expert Pearl Stringing & Restringing
Pearls are among the most delicate and timeless pieces in any jewelry collection. Over time, the silk thread that holds a strand together can stretch, weaken, or discolor — making periodic restringing an essential part of caring for your pearls. At Croghan's Jewel Box, our skilled jewelers handle pearl stringing with the care and precision these heirloom pieces deserve.
What We Offer
- Restringing & Knotting — Fresh silk thread to restore the integrity and drape of your strand. We offer stringing with knots (standard) and stringing without knots (typical for smaller beads).
- Clasp replacement & repair — Sourcing and fitting the right clasp to complement your strand. Please note: in most cases, if your clasp needs to be replaced on a strung piece, the strand will need to be restrung as well — as that is how the clasp is attached.
- Cleaning & inspection — Each strand is inspected and cleaned before being returned to you
Turnaround Time
Please allow approximately three weeks for pearl stringing services. We'll keep you updated throughout the process and reach out as soon as your piece is ready.

Start-Her-Necklace Stringing
The Start-Her-Necklace is a cherished tradition — a single pearl on a 14K gold chain that grows into a complete strand over time, gifted pearl by pearl through life's special moments.
Choosing a size: 5, 5.5, and 6mm are our most popular sizes, perfect for young girls and beautiful as a completed adult necklace.
Adding pearls: We sell Akoya pearl additions by the inch and recommend collecting 10 or more before restringing. We charge $10 per inch for restringing, and the final stringing is complimentary — including a traditional clasp in yellow or white gold.
Care: Pearls are organic and porous. Keep them away from perfume, lotion, hairspray, and water. Last thing on, first thing off.
