Our Story
We've been on Wonderful King Street for over a Hundred years.
Croghan's Jewel Box is Charleston, South Carolina's oldest family-owned jewelry store. Located in the heart of the historic district at 155 King Street, we've been helping customers find and care for their most valued and treasured possessions for more than 100 years. With an eye on the future and a sincere appreciation of the past, we offer a treasure trove of the most exciting and unique inventory in the Lowcountry. From estate and antique finds to gifts for every occasion, the store is now proudly serving its 4th generation of customers and visitors to our Holy City.

More than 100 years ago, William Joseph Croghan — a hand engraver and jeweler — opened his store at 308 King Street, where he began by occupying the side porch of a historic Charleston Single House as a long, skinny little shop. Over the decades, the store expanded to occupy the entire building, adding a complete design studio and workshop on the second floor, among many other accomplishments.

Because Croghan's has been in business for over 100 years, our customers have grown to depend on our advice and workmanship. Customers are offered a complete array of services and have access to bench jewelers and certified gemologists.

William Croghan's granddaughters and great-grandchildren watch over the store today. While honoring Croghan's old-world charm, their additions have been meaningful — introducing many exclusive products, expanding the estate and antique collections, and in 2025, relocating the store to its new home at 155 King Street.
