About the Piece

The Charleston Rice Spoon has been a tradition in the South since the first settlers arrived in the Lowcountry. Because rice was a major crop, Southern planters adapted its use to the serving of rice at the Charleston “two o’clock dinner.” Today the rice spoon is a symbol of Southern heritage and is used on sideboards and dining tables for all dishes.
